LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)-Speed Darlington is once again at the center of controversy—this time, for his apology over the earlier confession of “disvirgining a 15-year-old girl”.
The rapper, who recently drew criticism for a viral video, is facing renewed backlash after addressing the uproar in a follow-up post.
In the new clip, Darlington downplayed his earlier statement, claiming it was simply a publicity stunt.
“Controversy is the way artists eat,” according to him, the controversial comments were intentional, adding that he needed the attention to promote his latest song.

He went on to apologize, clarifying that he is a secular artist known for making music with explicit lyrics, which he admitted may offend certain people.
However, the apology seems to have done little to calm the storm, given a fresh throwback video recorded by Darlington in 2022, showing the moment a neighbor angrily rebuked him for sexual relations with a 16-year-old girl.
Many social media users accused the rapper of lying to escape accountability, with some insisting that authorities still need to investigate the matter thoroughly.
With scathing remarks, they branded him a joker, calling his actions tone-deaf and insensitive, especially given the nature of the controversy.
