ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Special Adviser to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Trade and Export, Chief Love Shimite, has passed away.
According to Punch, Shimite reportedly died in the early hours of Easter Monday following what sources described as a brief illness.
However, the exact circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear as of the time of this report.
The Delta State Police Command confirmed her passing.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, Shimite was confirmed dead at the hospital where she was taken.
“She (Shimite) was confirmed dead at the hospital,” Edafe stated.
In a surprising development, Edafe revealed that Shimite’s husband has been placed in protective custody. He clarified that the man is not under arrest but was taken in following threats allegedly made against him.

“He (the husband) was the one who called to report that his wife died early this morning and that he was receiving threats from her family, who feared he might be attacked,” Edafe explained. “It was on this basis that we went to his house and brought him in for his own safety.”
However, the situation took another turn when the deceased’s family formally lodged a complaint with the police, expressing suspicion that the husband may have had a hand in Shimite’s death.
Edafe confirmed the complaint, adding, “We are currently investigating. In situations like this, only an autopsy can determine whether the death was natural or due to other causes.”
He assured the public that further updates will be provided as investigations continue.
