ABUJA, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Lagos State Police Command has dismissed viral social media claims suggesting that an explosion occurred in the state.

Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, in a statement issued Saturday by the command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said there was no explosion anywhere in Lagos on Friday, April 19.

“The command in Lagos State confirms that no explosion incident was recorded in any part of the state,” he said.

Jimoh clarified that the widely circulated video was footage from a previous incident on April 11, when an explosion occurred at a CCTV shop in Computer Village, Ikeja.

He added that the matter is still under investigation.

He assured residents that the police have implemented proactive security measures, ensuring visible presence and a safe environment for businesses and daily life.

Jimoh urged the public to remain calm and continue their lawful activities without fear or panic.

He reiterated the command’s dedication to protecting lives and property across the state.

The Commissioner also cautioned bloggers and social media users against spreading misinformation capable of inciting fear or public unrest.

According to him, the police remain committed to maintaining peace and order throughout Lagos State.
