LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Following the family drama between the Okoyes of the defunct P-Square singing group, Peter Okoye aka Mr P, has shared a message defending his mental health after testifying in court against his older brother and former manager Jude Okoye.
Their protracted issues took the legal path after Jude was arraigned by the EFCC for money laundering and N1.3 billion fraud in February. He was remanded at the Ikoyi correctional center pending his trial, but was later released after meeting certain bail conditions.
However, after court hearing on April 14, where Peter testified against Jude for diverting funds, tampering backend reports, incorporating another company without their permission, among others, he shared a message on social media.

Taking to X, Peter revealed that he had been breaking in silence for over 20 years for the manipulation, thievery, and disloyalty he got from his family. He stated that getting ignored, discriminated against and shamed was not the true value of family.
Mr P announced that he chose sanity and the stability of his mental health above every other person, or thing. He prioritized himself, stating that he mattered.
His tweet reads,
“Don’t let ‘family’ be the reason you’re drowning in silence. I did — for over 20 years plus. And it almost cost me everything. But now I know better — love doesn’t manipulate, loyalty doesn’t betray, and family does not steal from you. Family that steals and breaks you isn’t family at all”
“Real family doesn’t drain you, shame you, discriminate against you, or ignore your pain. My sanity matters. My mental health is a priority. IF IT COSTS MY MENTAL HEALTH, THEN IT’S TOO EXPENSIVE.”
