Easter: FG Declares April 18, 21 Public Holidays, Urges Prayers For National Unity

ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 18, and Monday, April 21, 2025, as public holidays to commemorate Good Friday and Easter Monday.

The announcement was made on Tuesday in a statement issued by Magdalene Ajani, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, on behalf of the Minister, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

“Announcing this on behalf of the Federal Government, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo extended heartfelt congratulations to Christians across the country on this joyous occasion,” the statement read.

The minister emphasized the significance of Easter, highlighting the virtues of sacrifice and love demonstrated by Jesus Christ, who gave His life for the redemption of mankind.

He also called on Nigerians to seize the opportunity of the holiday to pray for the country’s peace, unity, and stability.

Tunji-Ojo reassured Nigerians of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s unwavering dedication to the Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said aims to drive national growth and development.

In his goodwill message, the minister encouraged citizens to reflect the spirit of the season by showing love and kindness to one another.

He concluded by wishing all Christians a joyous Easter celebration and extended warm holiday greetings to all Nigerians.
