LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)-Nigerian artist, Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, aka Portable has been arrested by officers from the Kwara State Police Command in Ilorin, for alleged criminal defamation.
The arrest stemmed from the series of publicized rants against Fuji maestro Saheed Osupa whose intellectual property Portable allegedly infringed.
His arrest was confirmed by the command’s spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, who stated that a petition was filed by Saheed Osupa against Portable on allegations which bordered on criminal defamation, threat to life, character assassination, incitement, use of abusive words, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.

Portable was apprehended late Sunday evening under the authority of a valid warrant from a Magistrate court in Ilorin. He was taken into custody in Abeokuta and transferred to the Ilorin police command, where he was questioned and his statement was taken in the presence of his lawyer and Osupa’s lawyer.
SP Adeyemi’s statement reads,
“In view of the weight of these allegations and the supporting evidence collected, the command secured a valid arrest warrant from a magistrate court sitting in Ilorin. Acting on this warrant, operatives form the command proceeded to Abeokuta, Ogun state on Sunday, 13th April 2025, where the suspect was apprehended at about 19:25hrs. He was immediately brought to Ilorin for further investigations,”
“Upon his arrival, the suspect’s statement was taken in the presence of legal representatives from both parties.”
In conclusion, SP Adeyemi stated that Portable was currently in custody and will be charged to court as soon as possible.
