ABUJA, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-Nigeria and Tanzania are poised to deepen bilateral relations with plans underway to establish direct flights between the two nations.
Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, recently hosted the Head of Chancery at the Tanzanian High Commission, Judica Nagunwa, in Abuja, where both sides discussed enhancing diplomatic and economic cooperation.
According to a statement on Sunday Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Minister, Tunde Moshood, Nagunwa led a delegation to Keyamo’s office to advance discussions on Air Tanzania’s request to begin direct air services to Nigeria.
“During the meeting, the Tanzanian envoy conveyed the High Commission’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between Nigeria and Tanzania, particularly in the area of air connectivity,” Moshood stated.

“A key point of discussion was the request by Air Tanzania to commence direct flights between Tanzania and Nigeria.
“Mrs. Nagunwa emphasised that the launch of direct flights would not only enhance trade and tourism between both countries but would also deepen cultural and people-to-people ties.”
She also reaffirmed Tanzania’s willingness to work closely with Nigerian authorities to bring the plan to fruition.
In response, Keyamo welcomed the proposal, assuring the delegation of the ministry’s readiness to support the initiative within the framework of existing bilateral agreements and regulatory protocols.
“He reiterated the Federal Government’s resolve under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to expand Nigeria’s aviation frontiers and promote stronger air transport linkages across Africa,” Moshood added.
The meeting ended with both parties expressing a shared commitment to continued dialogue, aimed at fast-tracking approvals and finalising the operational blueprint.
