ABUJA, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-Babcock University has launched the 2025 Charis Graduating Class Week with career and mentorship programme aimed at equipping students with practical tools for life after school.
The event, which began on Monday, was organized by the Department of Alumni Relations in collaboration with class sponsors and graduating class executives.
In a statement shared during the opening ceremony, President/Vice Chancellor, Professor Ademola Tayo, emphasized the university’s commitment to empowering students for real-world challenges.
“This is a rare opportunity to learn from industry leaders and alumni who have walked this path before you. Take it seriously,” he said.
The event featured a keynote speech from a former KPMG executive, Mrs. Edememe Wusu, who shared key principles for success.
She highlighted the importance of excellence, curiosity, storytelling, experimentation, networking, and spiritual grounding as vital attributes for personal and professional growth.

A special panel session, featuring Amanda Dara, Ife Durosinmi-Etti, Eromosele Adene, and Omolake Lavi, explored post-graduation purpose, navigating impact-driven careers, and building meaningful relationships.
The panelists advised students to seek guidance, remain focused, and practice financial discipline as they prepare for life beyond the university.
Representatives from universities and educational service organizations across the UK, US, and Canada also addressed students on postgraduate opportunities.
Participating UK institutions included the University of Brighton, University of Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam University, Ulster University, and others.
The University of Texas stood out as the only US-based university in attendance.
Educational services organizations present included GRYN Index Initiative, TGM Education, MOD Education, IDP International Specialists, and Study Across the Globe Educational Services, among others.
Highlighting the event was a surprise gesture by Ife Durosinmi-Etti, Founder of Herconomy, who rewarded students who deposited at least N1,000 in the Herconomy savings app.
Halima Baolgun and Oluwatimelihin each received N50,000 cash prizes, Tamunoibim Nwogwugwu and Iwuchukwu Victor received 2,000 shares of Access Holdings, while Riyinn Ande Musa was awarded 2,000 shares in GTCO Holdings, Dada Ayomide received a Samsung Galaxy A16 smartphone.
The Charis Class Week continues with more sessions designed to foster growth, mentorship, and career readiness, reflecting Babcock University’s mission to produce well-rounded graduates equipped for the global stage.
