LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)-Nigerian producer and musician Cobhams Asuquo, has opened up on how growing up with a disability helped shaped his life into the success he is today.
In a recent interview with Chude Jideonwo on podcast ‘WithChude’, he revealed that while growing up, he remained oblivious to the happenings around him due to his blindness.
He admitted that being ignorant to the limitations and stigma associated to blindness gave him the courage to do the things he wanted, thrive and achieve great things. Despite this, Cobhams maintained that he still experienced life in all phases.

“It was one of the few instances where ignorance is truly bliss. Because if I had understood what it meant growing up in Nigeria, in the world, to be a blind person, and the limitations that people kind of stack over you. Then maybe I wouldn’t have done half the things I do now,” he stated.
Currently living in a phase of “continued enlightenment”, he advised that life could happen to anyone and his success despite disability crowned his life as one of hope.
“Someone needs to know that I didn’t have it together when it started happening for me,” he added, as he shared what he described as the most “important” information.
