ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja has rejected an ex-parte application by the embattled National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Anyanwu, seeking to prevent the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), from recognizing his removal as the party’s secretary.
In his ruling, Justice Ekwo directed Anyanwu to notify INEC and other defendants in the suit, allowing them to present their arguments in court before any decision is made.

Senator Anyanwu had approached the court, requesting an order to restrain INEC and its agents from accepting or acting upon any correspondence from the PDP unless it bore his signature.
Additionally, through his legal counsel, Anyanwu sought an injunction preventing Ambassador Umar Damagun from submitting any documents or written communications to INEC without his authorization.
Justice Ekwo, after reviewing Anyanwu’s submissions, acknowledged that the case carried a sense of urgency.
However, he declined to grant an immediate order without first hearing from the defendants.
Instead, the judge instructed Anyanwu to formally serve INEC and Damagun with court documents notifying them of the suit and scheduled a hearing for February 24, 2025.
