ABUJA, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-President Bola Tinubu has expressed Nigeria’s readiness to spearhead Artificial Intelligence advancements in Africa and announced plans to collaborate with Google to drive this initiative.In a post on his verified X account on Wednesday, Tinubu shared insights from his recent meeting with CEO of Google and Alphabet, Sundar Pichai, in France.
He described the discussion as productive, focusing on enhancing Nigeria’s role in Artificial Intelligence and digital innovation.
“Nigeria is poised to take the lead in AI and technology—this is merely the start of an exciting journey!

“We are exploring partnership opportunities with Google, which will focus on five key areas: enhancing scalable cloud infrastructure, equipping our workforce with essential skills for the future, promoting AI innovation and research, driving cloud adoption, and elevating Nigeria’s standing in the global tech landscape as a hub for innovation and AI transition,” the president posted.
He highlighted Nigeria’s growing potential in the AI sector, citing Awarri Technologies as a key example.
The president explained that the federal government is currently working with Awarri Technologies to develop essential AI software infrastructure tailored to meet Nigeria’s market demands.
He further emphasized that the discussions with Google are in line with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which focuses on economic diversification through industrialization, digitization, and innovation.
“This will empower businesses, create new opportunities, and establish Nigeria as a significant player in the global digital economy,” the president stated.
He also mentioned that the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy will oversee the strategic direction, while NITDA will lead the implementation process.
