LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Renowned Nigerian Cinematographer, Clarence Peters, speaks about his new film launched on online movie streaming platform, Netflix.
During his latest interview on podcast WithChude, Clarence said that his love for movies made him chose a career in “Cinematography” and partly due to the big name that he found enticing.
According to him, before he became the celebrated music video producer we all know, his initial plan was to build a brand that would recognize his skills in that field for about 4 years before branching out to film production, but the challenges of marketing his films and not being taken seriously because he was already a known “music guy” thwarted the plans.
He revealed that his latest movie was personal to him particularly, its episode 5, whose plot dwelt on the controversial topic ‘abortion’. He stated that its story was written by his cousin who drew inspiration from her personal experience.

Clarence confessed that when his mother, veteran actress Clarion Chukwura, read the script, she broke down and wept, as it mirrored her experience during his conception.
“In making ‘Inside Life’, I discovered some of the things I did not know. Episode 5 of ‘Inside Life’ is written by my cousin who went through that and so my mum went through the script and started crying because she also went through the same thing,” he disclosed.
Finding herself pregnant with Fuji Maestro, Sir Shina Peters’s baby at the peak of her career, his mother Clarion, was pressured into having an abortion especially after she was abandoned by her lover. She endured several backlash and criticism during and after his birth while doing her best to grow her career and maintain her new life.
Released on Netflix on October 11, 2024, the movie ‘Inside Life’, a six-episode series set in South-Western Nigeria, focuses on the horrific realities faced by victims of societal ills such as police brutality and abuse of power, child abuse, sexual abuse, human trafficking, and ritual killings.
