LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA) – In a display of rich Yoruba culture, the royal palace of Ife, ruled by Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, welcomed its newborn prince home.
The Ooni of Ife threw a lavish celebration to commemorate the return of his wife Olori Ashley Ogunwusi, from UK, where she had their son, Prince Ademakinwa, on September 3, 2024, at the Princess Royal Hospital in London.
The traditional homecoming ceremony took place in the ancient city of Ile-Ife, Osun State, attended by the palace chiefs, traditional rulers, dignitaries, family, friends and well wishers from and across the country, who all thronged out to welcome the prince home.
The Ooni of Ife via his Instagram page shared a video of the ceremony, starting from the royals arrival in a white exotic car at the gates of the palace, the welcome chants made melodious by drumbeats and dancers entertaining the crowd.

Olori Ashley was also seen carrying her son as she handed him over to the king for prayers followed by traditional rites of kolanut and honey.
The Ooni’s video came with a lengthy caption that read,
“Today, the heavens rejoice, and the earth bears witness to a moment woven in destiny. With profound gratitude to Olodumare, we welcome home our beloved Prince, a sacred gift, a living testament to the eternal cycle of life and legacy,”
