ABUJA, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has facilitated the long-awaited induction of 128 medical graduates from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.

The statement read, “The Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has secured the induction for 128 medical graduates of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.

Edo State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Emmanuel Iyamu, on Thursday met with the Registrar of the Medical Council, Dr. Fatima Kyari, leading to the resolution of the prolonged induction delay for medical graduates of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.
In a statement, Iyamu expressed gratitude to the registrar for her support and reassured students of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s unwavering commitment to their welfare.
While congratulating the new medical doctors on their scheduled induction, he emphasized that the governor prioritizes students’ concerns and is dedicated to improving education across all levels in the state.
Earlier this month, medical students of Ambrose Alli University staged a protest, blocking the Benin-Auchi Highway to demand the induction of the 2015 set, whose process had been halted.
Speaking on behalf of the graduates, Precious Omohegbele lamented that she and her colleagues had spent 10 years in medical school, graduating in August 2024, but were yet to be inducted.
Governor Okpebholo swiftly intervened, engaging all relevant stakeholders to find a lasting solution to the crisis.
His administration had previously reinstated the payment of monthly subventions to the university and reversed the illegal disengagement of staff under former Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration, reinforcing his commitment to restoring stability in the institution.
