LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)-The Kano State Zonal Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), has received 10 human trafficking victims rescued by operatives of the Nigeria Police.
The agency received all 10 victims which included six females and four males on Thursday, handed over by Officers of the Kano State Command of the Nigeria Police Force.
The Zonal Commander of NAPTIP, Mr Abdullahi Babale, while receiving the rescued victims in Kano on Thursday, disclosed that a team of policemen from the Kano Command led by CSP Bala Shuaibu, rescued the victims on December 7, around 2.40 p.m. in a building located at the Rijiyar Lemu Quarters in Kano state.

According to him, the 10 victims, between the ages of 22 to 42 were marked for labour exploitation and were on their way to Libya before the timely intervention of the police that led to their rescue.
“They were on their way to Libya for labour exploitation,”
“The rescued victims are from Delta, Edo, Osun, Ogun,and Lagos states,” he stated.
Babale, praised the efforts of the Kano State Commissioner of Police, Mr Salman Dogo-Garba, and thanked him for his cooperation with the agency and his support towards the rescue of the victims.
He guaranteed that the victims will be reunited with their loved ones after they get cared for by the agency who will provide them with the counsel and support they need to aid their rehabilitation.
He also advised parents and guardians to protect their wards against exploitation and ‘modern’ slavery disguised as a path to greener pastures.
To the members of the public, the Zonal Commander encouraged them to visit the nearest security agency and report any suspicious activity, particularly on human trafficking cases in their respective communities.
