LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- In a bid to secure harvest and peaceful end-of-the-year celebrations, operatives of the Nigerian Army has raided a kidnappers’ lair arresting an infamous kingpin as well as other bandits’ arms dealers disguising as transporters.
During the raid, troops of 3division/Operation Safe Haven (a unit of the Nigerian army), in a daring operation tagged ‘Operation Golden Peace, stormed the lair of the kidnappers in the Rafiki community of Bassa Local Government Area, in the north of Plateau State, Nigeria, leading to the arrest of an infamous kingpin known as Mohammed Musa, aka Mamman and his accomplices.
In a statement released on Wednesday by the Military Task Force Spokesperson, Major Samson Zhakom, he made public the raid of the lair, the arrest of the bandits and their collaborators, as well as the recovery of 439 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition concealed in their hideout.
Maj. Zhakom said, “In continuation of robust efforts to ensure secure harvest and peaceful Yuletide celebrations in the Joint Operations Area as directed by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. O.O. Oluyede NAM,”

“Troops of 3 Division/Operation Safe Haven on Operation Golden Peace conducted intelligence-based raids at identified criminal hideouts at Rafiki General Area in the Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State with positive outcomes, including the capture of notorious kidnap kingpins and recovery of a cache of ammunition on 10 December 2024,”
“During the operation, security agencies captured the target identified as Mohammed Musa, also known as Mamman, alongside his collaborator, Mallam Alhassan Samaila,”
“A thorough search at the hideout of the kidnap kingpin led to the recovery of 439 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition carefully concealed in a four-litre engine oil gallon.”
According to him, investigations revealed that the arrested suspects dealt in the supply of ammunitions to bandits in Kaduna, Plateau, and Zamfara state, wearing disguises that identified them as transporters.
“Arrested suspects are making useful confessions while security agencies are currently conducting follow-on operations to capture other members of the criminal syndicate as well as recover their arms and ammunition,” he added.
The Major, appealed to members of the society to cooperate with security agencies and report without delay any useful information that will assist their operations.
He also reassured residents under their jurisdiction, of the 3 Division and Operation Safe Haven unwavering dedication to secure the safety of lives and properties.
