LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- A mother has reportedly been stabbed to death by her son in a botched ritual attempt.

The 22-year-old male suspect known simply as Godwin hails from Elebele community of Ogbia Local Council in Bayelsa state.

It was gathered from various sources that Godwin, who had been away in Benin City, Edo state, for months studying at a ‘Yahoo boys training camp’ returned to his home a few weeks ago acting weird and in an unusual manner.

According to some sources, there was a prophetic decree on the deceased from one community pastor who warned her of the danger ahead and advised her against accepting any form of gift from her son. Another source revealed the suspect upon his return home refused to associate with his friends.

In defense, Godwin claimed to have been tipped off by one “Baba” who told him his mother was responsible for his failures as she had spiritually tied down his destiny.

When asked by Newsmen, the Elebele Community Youth President, Comrade Precious Okala, confirmed the bloody act while giving details of the incident.

He reported that it happened around 6pm and upon his arrival with other youths at the scene, they found the bloodied corpse of his already deceased mother and did their best to restrain him and tie him down.

Okala, said “We were told that since the boy came back from Benin City, he has been behaving in a strange manner,”

“On the fateful day, he was reported to have had a struggle with the mother and stabbed her with a knife in the stomach. The boy was heard saying that one “Baba” had told him that the mother is in possession of his destiny and wealth,” he added.

On the grounds of anonymity, a youth revealed to the press that after the suspect returned home, he acted strange around his childhood friends whom he stayed away from and he also on several occasions cooked for his mother which she rejected and refused to eat.

Regardless of his heinous crime, the youths of the community handed Godwin over to the Bayelsa State Police Command, Kolo Division.

In a statement, the state’s Police Command Spokesperson, Musa Mohammed, confirmed the act and stated that the case has been transferred for due process to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
