“I had friends who laughed at me, and I became the subject of unfounded rumors,” she said. “It was difficult to navigate a world where my values seemed at odds with those around me.”
The model expressed concern about the shifting perceptions of women’s values in contemporary society.
“Things are very different right now. Women seem to be losing sight of their self-worth,” she noted. “I spent my 20s making mistakes, but I remained committed to my covenant.”
Akinnifesi acknowledged the emotional toll of societal judgment, explaining how negative narratives about her personal life made her feel as though she had to hide her virginity.
“It felt like an embarrassment, but I’ve learned to embrace my choices,” she said. “With God’s grace, I survived those trials.”
Now, as she reflects on her past, Akinnifesi encourages other young women who may feel ashamed of their decisions to uphold their values.
“I can only imagine how difficult it is for those who have chosen to keep themselves,” she remarked. “But I have come to realize that I should never feel ashamed of my body or my choices.”
