ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- A superintendent of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Solomon Ogodo, has been sentenced to seven years imprisonment for defrauding jobseekers of N12.2 million.
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), in a statement on Tuesday, disclosed that Ogodo deceived victims by promising to secure employment for their relatives in the Nigeria Correctional Services (NCoS).
The convict was found guilty of forgery, employment racketeering, and fraud after being arraigned in December 2022 before Justice M.S. Idris of the FCT High Court.

The ICPC explained that the charges detailed how Ogodo collected various sums from unsuspecting individuals under false pretenses.
“In the five-count charge, the commission told the court how the convict, on different occasions, hoodwinked some members of the public into parting with different sums of money in the guise of securing employments for their relatives in the Nigeria Correctional Services,” the statement read.
The case highlights the prevalence of employment fraud schemes in Nigeria, as jobseekers remain vulnerable to exploitation by unscrupulous individuals.
