ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Borno State High Court in Maiduguri has sentenced Aisha Wakil, widely known as Mama Boko Haram, to five years imprisonment for her involvement in a N6 million fraud.
Alongside Wakil, two officials from her non-governmental organization, Complete Care and Aid Foundation—Tahiru Daura, the Programme Manager, and Prince Shoyode, the Country Director—received the same sentence.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which prosecuted the case, revealed that Justice Aisha Kumaliya delivered the judgment on November 28.
According to the anti-graft agency, the defendants dishonestly induced Bukar Kachalla, the owner of Abks Ventures, to part with a Toyota Camry 2012 model worth N6 million, which they neither paid for nor returned.

Initially arraigned on September 1, 2020, Vanguard reports that the defendants faced four amended charges, including conspiracy, cheating, and providing false information.
Despite pleading not guilty, the EFCC presented three witnesses and several documents as evidence during the trial.
In her judgment, Justice Kumaliya convicted all three defendants on the charges, sentencing each to five years imprisonment without the option of a fine.
She further ordered the defendants to jointly refund a balance of N3.5 million to the petitioner.
Justice Kumaliya warned that failure to comply with the refund order would attract an additional five-year jail term for each defendant.
