2027: Atiku, Obi’s Alliance Key To Defeating APC – Paul Ibe

ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Opposition leaders Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi have learned valuable lessons from their loss in the 2023 presidential election and are working towards a united front to remove the “incompetent and clueless” All Progressives Congress (APC) government, according to the media aide to Atiku, Paul Ibe

Ibe shared these insights during his appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, where he commented on recent public meetings between Atiku, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, and Obi, the Labour Party flagbearer.

Both Atiku and Obi garnered over six million votes each in the 2023 election, which was ultimately won by APC’s Bola Tinubu with over eight million votes.

Obi, formerly a PDP member and Atiku’s ally, had defected to the Labour Party months before the election. Analysts believe the split in opposition votes between the PDP and Labour Party was a critical factor in their failure to unseat the APC.

Reflecting on these events, Ibe stated, “The truth of the matter is that Atiku Abubakar has promoted opposition parties to work together, to come together; that is the only way they can kick out this incompetent and clueless government. And I believe that discussions have been going on.”

He emphasized that lessons from the 2023 election have informed the ongoing collaboration between Atiku and Obi. “They have learned that lesson and want to be united and go forward,” he said.

Ibe further described Nigeria’s current state as dire, citing rising food inflation, a cost-of-living crisis, and worsening economic conditions. “Nigerians deserve better than what they are getting. It’s never been this bad in this country, and there is no hope,” he lamented.

Regarding the alliance, Ibe refrained from disclosing specifics, such as whether Atiku would step down for Obi in the 2027 election, but reiterated that “all options are on the table.”

He concluded by saying, “Synergy is the new name of politics,” underscoring the importance of opposition unity in addressing the nation’s challenges and charting a new path forward.
