LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- In a bid to revolutionize the Nigeria Police Force’s training capabilities, the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) has announced plans to upgrade the old Nigeria Police Training School in Ilorin, Kwara State, into a world-class training center.
The development, revealed by NPTF Executive Secretary Mohammed Sheidu over the weekend in Ilorin, aims to address the substandard facilities currently in place.
Sheidu emphasized that the NPTF will fully sponsor the upgrade and renovation of the training school, ensuring that the facilities meet global standards, even if it’s primarily a recruits training center.
“It needs to be upgraded to world standard,” he said.
Aside the upgrade of the training center, the officials of the NPTF had other reasons to be in Ilorin. They were also scheduled to attend a two-day management retreat held for stakeholders.
In addition, they also visited the Kwara State Garment Factory located along Airport road, Ilorin, for a tour of its facilities.

After the tour, the officials impressed with its operations and efficiency, urged other states in the country to adapt similar initiatives that curbs textile imports and advances local production.
During the visit, a potential partnership was opened to the factory’s officials, suggesting they handle the making of uniforms for the NPF and all of its personnels.
However, the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, while soliciting the NPTF to intervene in the police training center, also encouraged the officials to help boom the state’s economy and patronize the factory for the production of its personnels uniforms.
The NPTF Executive Secretary, Mohammed Sheidu, said the fund was open to discussions with the Satan government and partnership with the factory.
