ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has dismissed comments made by the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, about the party’s intention to capture Osun and Oyo States in upcoming elections.
Makinde asserted that the APC leader might have been “distracted” following recent elections in Edo and Ondo states.
Speaking at the commissioning of projects executed by Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Makinde expressed confidence that the people of Osun would resist the APC in future elections, emphasizing the success and progressive policies of Governor Adeleke’s administration.
“The people of Osun State have seen the light Governor Adeleke represents and will surely show APC ‘pepper’ in the next election,” Makinde stated.
Channels Television reports that Makinde commended Adeleke for prioritizing the completion of projects initiated by previous administrations.
He noted that this approach aligns with his own governance style in Oyo State.
“This road project, started by former Governor Aregbesola, was completed by Governor Adeleke, ensuring the people get value for their money. Such continuity cements true leadership,” Makinde said.
He praised the economic impact of Adeleke’s projects, such as the Light-Up Osun initiative, which has completed 250km of electrification projects.
Makinde highlighted that development-focused policies are vital to alleviating economic challenges in Nigeria.
Addressing the electorate, Makinde urged Osun residents to re-elect Adeleke for another term, describing him as a “real progressive” leader.

“I congratulate the people of Osun for their choice two years ago. Governor Adeleke is delivering the dividends of democracy. The reward for hard work is more work, so let him continue for another four years,” Makinde stated.
He criticized leaders who abandon inherited projects and emphasized that public interest should transcend party affiliations.
“Some mediocre minds think they don’t need to complete projects initiated by other parties. But leaders like Governor Adeleke and I understand that people must come first,” Makinde added.
Makinde noted that both he and Adeleke are leading a new wave of governance in the South-West, setting an example with people-oriented policies.
“Both of us represent true progressives. We will continue to lead with vision, tackling challenges like federalism reforms while ensuring impactful leadership,” Makinde asserted.
Makinde encouraged Osun residents not to revert to previous governance styles that prioritized party interests over public good.
“Stick with Imole. It is working, and it will continue to work,” he said.
Governor Adeleke, in his remarks, thanked Makinde for attending the event, calling his presence a reflection of the strong bond between Osun and Oyo States.
The event was attended by top officials from Oyo State, further highlighting the camaraderie between the two governors and their administrations.
