ABUJA, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Oyo State Government has approved the conversion of 551 serving officers into various sub-officer and officer cadres within the state’s civil and public service.
This development was announced by the Chairman of the state Civil Service Commission, Kamoru Aderibigbe, through a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, in Ibadan, the state capital, on Sunday.
Aderibigbe stated, “The government settled for the 551 officers, and the selection was rigorous and competitive. I believe these recruitment and conversion exercises are game-changers for the state civil service. The conversion is to strengthen the service and ensure better output by workers.”
He added that the conversion exercise, approved alongside the ongoing recruitment into the civil service, underscores Governor Seyi Makinde’s commitment to supporting workers who have acquired additional academic and professional qualifications.

The state government recently concluded a Computer-Based Test for approximately 15,000 applicants competing for new appointments across 66 different cadres within the civil and public service.
Aderibigbe highlighted the health sector as the primary beneficiary of the conversion exercise, with 85 Nursing Superintendents elevated to Nursing Officers, alongside other cadres in the sector.
Additionally, some medical officers are expected to be converted into Medical Consultants in their specialized fields.
Describing the initiative as a testament to the governor’s dedication to prioritizing the welfare of the masses, Aderibigbe urged workers to reciprocate the governor’s efforts by performing their duties diligently, effectively, and efficiently.
