LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- President-elect, Donald Trump, has appointed tech billionaire, Elon Musk, to head the newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), as part of his administration’s commitment to reducing government bureaucracy and enhancing efficiency.
In a statement released on November 12, 2024, Trump announced that Musk will be joined in this role by entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.
The announcement was shared via Musk’s X account early the following day.

“Together, these two wonderful Americans will pave the way for my administration to dismantle government bureaucracy, slash excessive regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure federal agencies—essential to the ‘Save America’ movement,” Trump stated.
The president-elect emphasized that the new department will collaborate with the White House and the Office of Management and Budget to implement large-scale structural reforms, aiming to create what he described as an unprecedented entrepreneurial approach to government.
“This will send shockwaves through the system, and anyone involved in government waste, which is a lot of people!” Musk added in the statement.
