LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has petitioned for worldwide support to end violence against children.
On Tuesday, Sulaiman-Ibrahim, led Nigeria’s delegation to the first global conference on Ending Violence Against Children held in Colombia. 1,600 participants including 143 ministers from 93 countries converged with the commitment to drive transformative change towards Nigeria and the world freeing it of violence against children.
With a commitment to further advance their interests, the minister outlined several policies and schemes to the Nigerian government that are children and women oriented. She reiterated the urgent steps needed to safeguard every child, calling on nations to unite in confronting the profound challenges and responsibilities at hand.

“The first-ever global ministerial conference on ending violence against children represents an historic moment; to re-imagine a world where all children are safe in their homes, schools, communities and online and make commitments commensurate with the global child protection challenge.
“The Nigerian government under President Bola Tinubu is determined to make living conditions better for children and have created viable means towards securing and investing in children as national treasures and as leaders of tomorrow,” she said.
The conference played a key role to showcasing national progress, announcing new commitments and amplifying diverse voices.
Delegates at the conference pledged towards prioritizing child protection themes and creating a safer, saner, and more secured future for the next generation. The attendees included the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs, Ambassador Gabriel Aduda, and many others.
