LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- A 55 year old woman, Eucharia Chidi Obasi, of Umuediabali Ahiazu Mbaise in Imo State has been murdered by a suspected ritualist doubling as a pastor.
The Advocacy for Alleged Witches (AfAW) directed by Leo Igwe has condemned the brutal murder.
According to AfAW, a suspected ritualist and pastor at a local church, Emeka, broke into the victim’s house at midnight on September 11, 2024, and murdered her.
“He then cut off the breast, private organs, and other parts of the body.
“Local sources told AfAW that the ritualist also attempted to kill another woman, but she raised an alarm which led him to be lynched by a mob and beaten to death.
“AfAW condemns jungle justice and extra-judicial killing of suspected criminals. They advised, perpetrators of evil should be handed over to the police, investigated, and charged to court to face the consequences of their actions.

“The brutal murder of Eucharia Obasi emphasizes the strong belief in human ritual sacrifice for wealth and affluence and the urgent need for this baseless mindset, attitudes, and behaviors to change,” AfAW stated.
Local sources informed that the alleged ritualist pastored a local church and confessed to committing the murder to carry out ritual sacrifice that would grow the church.
“In recent times, the cases of ritual attacks and ritual murder of persons across the country linked to internet scams called Yahoo Plus has increased exponentially.
“As the case of Ms Obasi has illustrated, irrational beliefs have caused a moral crisis and the society needs cultural, moral and intellectual rehabilitation.
“AfAW urges Nigerians to understand that ritual money or wealth is a form of superstition and has no basis in reason, science, or reality as there is no evidence that ritual sacrifice of humans or other animals or their parts can produce wealth.
“AfAW appeals to all Nigerians to shun these misconceptions and desist from these atrocious acts,” AfAW said.
