LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Some armed policemen of the Yobe State Police Area Command have reportedly invaded the Chief Magistrate Court in Potiskum, Yobe to free two of their colleagues facing charges for criminal conspiracy and robbery.
It was stated that the armed policemen disrupted lawful activities of the court, forcing staff, lawyers and litigants to run for their safety.
According to Daily Nigerian, the incident occurred in October 29, 2024.
The two (2) contemnors who were earlier convicted by Chief Magistrate Hadiza Gimba, were eventually taken with force by the lawless armed policemen.
It was gathered that before trial begun the police command deliberately refused to hand over the suspected officers for prosecution, despite multiple adjournments and court orders.

This allegation contained in a letter addressed to the Chief Registrar of High Court of Justice in Damaturu by the Chief Magistrate Court accused the police of refusing to receive summons served on them.
However, the state police command’s PRO, Dungus Abdulkarim, told newsmen that the case was still under investigation.
According to him, the command is aware of the case and is yet to conclude investigations.
Meanwhile, the state chapter of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) condemning the invasion has threatened to boycott all the courts in the state.
After an emergency meeting held by the NBA, they firmly demanded the immediate removal, investigation and prosecution of the Area Commander of Potiskum zone and all the police men involved in the armed raid.
