(VOICE OF NAIJA)- The organizers of the Akinyemilaw Songwriting Contest have announced a call for entries for the 2024 edition, the sixth in the series.
The contest is open to talented songwriters in Nigeria and Ghana, with an increased prize money of $5,000 to be split among the top three winners.
This year’s winner will receive $4,000, while the first and second runners-up will receive consolation cash prizes of $750 and $250, respectively.
Additionally, music equipment worth $1,000 will be awarded to the winners by Showgear, a music retail, rental, and event company.

The contest theme is “Come to my Party,” and interested participants are required to create an original 90-second song in any African genre, with a tempo of 108-113 BPM.
Entries will be accepted from November 1 to December 15, and participants must upload their songs to Instagram and Audiomack with the hashtag #TalSongContest2024. They must also follow the official Instagram handle, @talcsongcontest, and submit their streaming link through the competition’s portal.
According to the convener of the contest, Akinyemi Ayinoluwa, “We are excited to announce our call for fresh, original voices that capture the essence of storytelling through music.
“This competition celebrates the power of music and the beauty of expression, providing an incredible opportunity for emerging talents to showcase their creativity and passion.”
