LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Grammy-winning singer, Pharrell Williams, has criticised celebrities for making public political endorsements ahead of the US presidential election, scheduled for November 5.
Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, and Kamala Harris, the vice president and the Democratic nominee, are both vying for the presidency.
Several American celebrities, including Taylor Swift, Megan Thee Stallion, and Billie Eilish have publicly endorsed Harris.
Swift said she would vote for Harris because “she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them”.

Trump has also received endorsements from public figures like billionaire Elon Musk and Blac Chyna.
Pharrell, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, expressed his disinterest in politics and his frustration with celebrities who publicly endorse political candidates.
He said while he respects some celebrities for having opinions, he feels not all of them should voice their political preferences.
He added that he believes such opinions from celebrities can be unnecessary.
“I don’t do politics. In fact, I get annoyed sometimes when I see celebrities trying to tell you [who to vote for]. There are celebrities that I respect that have an opinion, but not all of them,” he said.
