OGUN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- It is a new season of the UEFA Champions’ League and Bayern Munich have started on a fiery note as Harry Kane hits four and Michael Olise nets double to defeat Dinamo Zagreb.
How It Happened
Bayern Munich dominated proceedings right from the off and almost broke the deadlock in the ninth minute of the match through Jamal Musiala’s strike only to see the goal disallowed due to offside.
A few minutes later, Serge Gnabry found the back of the net but a VAR check ruled that out, however, the referee detected a foul on Aleksandar Pavlovic inside the Dinamo box. From the resulting spot-kick, Harry Kane netted the opener and reached the 50-goal landmark for Bayern Munich.

In the 33rd minute, Gnabry sent a brilliant long ball for Musiala who chested the ball down inside the box before perfectly setting up for Raphael Guerreiro to take a crack at the goal. The Portuguese slotted the ball home with a sensational shot to double his team’s lead. Five minutes later, Michael Olise scored his maiden Champions League goal as he converted a header from an inch-perfect ball from Joshua Kimmich.
Vincent Kompany made a crucial change at half-time as he brought in Sven Ulreich for the injured Manuel Neuer. The change could have proved to be a disaster as it took Dinamo just five minutes after the break to score twice.
However, Bayern soon regained their control over the game, after an initial setback in the second half. Kane scored three more goals to take his tally to nine in five matches across all competitions this season while Michael Olise completed a brace and became the second French player after Thierry Henry in 1997 to bag a double on his Champions League debut.
Second-half substitutes Leroy Sane and Leon Goretzka added two more goals to the team’s total in the final moments of the match as the Bavarian club completed a 9-2 rout.
