ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to ten members of the #EndBadGovernance protest movement, accused of attempting to overthrow President Bola Tinubu during protests held between August 1 and 4.Â
The court set the bail at N10 million each, with strict conditions attached.
Justice Emeka Nwite, who presided over the bail ruling, stipulated that each defendant must provide a surety who owns property in Abuja.
The property documents must be submitted to the court, along with an affidavit of means.

Additionally, the sureties must be based in Abuja and must surrender their international passports and three recent passport photographs to the court.
The Inspector General of Police had objected to the bail applications, but the judge overruled the objections.
Channels Television reports that, Justice Nwite, however, ordered that the defendants are prohibited from participating in any public rallies during the duration of their trial.
The accused are facing treason charges for allegedly “levying war” against Nigeria during the one-week nationwide protest.
Until they meet their bail conditions, the court ordered their continued detention. The trial is set to commence on September 27.
