LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Ekiti State Government has provided N100 million in financial assistance to 105 beneficiaries to help cover the costs of treating various medical conditions.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oyebanji Filani, while distributing the cheques to the beneficiaries in Ado Ekiti on Friday, stated that the government’s support aims to ensure they can afford their medical expenses.
Filani said, “The medical conditions covered included treatment of kidney and cancer, appendectomies and cataract surgeries as well as fibroids removals.
“The assistance covers those who are currently undergoing treatment or about to undergo treatment, persons with specific treatments that are available within the state or outside the state.”

Filani expressed gratitude to Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, for approving the disbursement and consistently supporting the masses.
He encouraged the beneficiaries to stay positive and follow medical advice for a swift recovery, while reaffirming the state government’s commitment to delivering quality, accessible, and affordable healthcare services to all citizens.
The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs. Olusola Gbenga-Igotun, highlighted that the government recognizes the burden of ill health and the financial challenges faced by many citizens, which prompted the provision of this medical financial assistance to help alleviate their financial strain.
The Permanent Secretary encouraged Ekiti residents to prioritize their health by exercising regularly and maintaining a proper diet to stay healthy.
One of the beneficiaries, Chief Babatunde Ayowale, thanked the governor for prioritizing the health and well-being of the citizens in his administration.
