LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- US rapper Dequantes Lamar a.k.a Rich Homie Quan is dead.
He reportedly died on Thursday in Georgia, according to a statement from the Fulton County Medical Examiner.
The Medical Examiner’s office confirmed that Grady Memorial Hospital notified them of Lamar’s death.
As of now, the cause of death has not been determined.

Rich Homie Quan was born on October 4, 1989, in Atlanta.
In the 2010s, he started making trap music and collaborated with rappers like Gucci Mane, 2 Chainz, YG, Young Thug, Trinidad James, and more.
Alongside fellow Atlanta rapper Young Thug, Quan was a member of Cash Money Records.
Lamar played varsity baseball as a freshman, excelling as a center fielder and leadoff hitter. He even earned a scholarship to attend Fort Valley State University, an HBCU.

Before launching his rap career, he spent four years playing baseball at Ronald McNair Sr. High School in Atlanta.
Quan made a splash with his debut on the charts in 2013 when his “Type of Way” anthem peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Quan followed up with ”Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh),” a song produced by DJ Spinz and Nitti Beatz. It became his highest charting solo single at No. 26 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He also featured on Lil Dicky’s viral ”$ave Dat Money.”
Lamar’s father, Corey, was shot during an attempted robbery at a barber shop in Atlanta, but he survived on September 29, 2014.
Went independent under his own Rich Homie Entertainment record label after leaving Think It’s a Game Entertainment in 2015.
In November 2016, Quan sued his former label Think It’s A Game for $2 million for unpaid royalties. The label counter-sued him for breach of contract. Both suits were settled out of court.
Quan debuted his first and only studio album ”Rich as in Spirit,” which mostly went without any features, except for ”Think About It,” a single with Rick Ross in 2018.
In an interview with Associated Press in 2022, the rapper said he was going through litigation with independent label T.I.G. (Think It’s a Game Record), but was prepared to make a comeback.
During that time, Quan ended up in a feud with his old collaborator Young Thug, who along with rapper Gunna, were among a group indicted on charges of conspiracy to violate Georgia’s RICO Act and also accused of participation in a criminal street gang.
Lamar had four sons. His oldest, Devin, was born in 2006, which Lamar did not know about until five years later.
Rich Home Quan was a philanthropist who donated to his hometown (Atlanta) community, including local schools and youth programs, with campaigns like #FeedTheStreets.
