ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)– Gunmen have ambushed and killed four policemen in the Irete community along Onitsha Road in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
Sources told Channels Television that the attack occurred while the policemen were on stop-and-search duty in the area on Monday.

A Point of Sale (PoS) operator was also reportedly killed in the ambush by the assailants.
The police spokesman in the state, Henry Okoye, confirmed the tragic incident, stating that four policemen were killed, not six as earlier speculated.
This attack is part of a troubling series of assaults on security agents by non-state actors in Imo State and the broader South-East geopolitical zone, which has seen numerous gunmen attacks in recent years.
