OGUN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- A father, Mark Akande, has appealed to the public to intervene in the apprehension of the suspect who defiled his daughter, Covenant Akande, a special girl child with a speech impairment.
According to him, the special girl child has been able to identify the person who defiled her through a picture and sign language communication.
Mr. Akande disclosed this development in a statement made available to voiceofnaija.ng.
He wrote “I hereby write in respect of the above subject matter and demand for Justice.”
” My daughter Covenant Akande, a special girl child with speech impairment have been able to identified the persons that defiled her through a picture and sign language communication.”
“Covenant Akande described to the Officers from the Badagry Police Station the person that defiled her when she was asked and the statement is documented at the Badagry Police Station.”
He narrates their aftermath following the defilement of the innocent girl
“We have also done all necessary medical Investigation and tests and we have some report from Mirabel Medical Center and Ceceyara Foundation.”

According to him, the defilement has led to Covenant and her parents suffering from trauma, psychosocial problems, distress, social strain on family relationships and well-being, exposure to a marathon of HIV medications, fear, inferiority complex, mental disorder, and unruly behavior, among other things.
Speaking on how the school has been reacting to him and his family, Mr Akande said they are seen as the accused for speaking out.
“We are subjected to all manner of investigation without handing over the suspect(s) to the police for proper investigation.
“They said we want to spoil their names so nothing should be said about our daughter.
“That we are looking for money that is why we cooked up the story against the suspect and the school management.
“That how can we be living in the Barracks and still voice out against the institution of the same barracks we live in etc,” he said.
Exposing those accused of being a part of the abuse and covering up of the matter, he said they are the Head Teacher, Mrs. Deborah Adeuti, class teacher, Mr Stephen and school management.
He pleaded with the Lagos State government and ministries in charge of cases of abuse and child defilement to hand over those mentioned and the key members of the management of NAOWA Nursery and Primary school, Ibereko – Badagry, Lagos to the Nigeria police for proper investigation.
“We also demand that Covenant Akande should be given proper medical attention because her phycological and behavioural attitude are deteriorating.
“We look forward to your urgently intervention,” he added.
