ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Nigerian military has announced a string of successes against terrorists and criminal elements across the country. Between April and June, troops killed 2,245 terrorists, apprehended 3,682 suspects, and rescued 1,993 kidnapped hostages.
In the South-East, Operation UDO KA cleared terrorist strongholds, killing 180 terrorists, arresting 354 suspects, and rescuing 149 hostages. Troops also recovered a large cache of weapons and ammunition.

Speaking while briefing journalists on the operations of the military in the second quarter, on Thursday in Abuja, DHQ spokesman Edward Buba said: “Troops also recovered 28 AK47 rifles, 44 pump action guns, 3,456 rounds of 7.62mm special, 1,402 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 801 live cartridges and 324 assorted ammunitions.”
He said in the North-East, Operation Hadin Kai targeted terrorist commanders, killing 857 terrorists, arresting 913 suspects, and rescuing 594 hostages.
“The air component conducted air interdictions, destroying terrorist enclaves and killing leaders and commanders.
“In the North-Central, Operation Safe Haven killed 130 violent extremists, arrested 544 suspects, and rescued 277 hostages. Troops also recovered weapons and ammunition.
“In the North-West, Operation Hadarin Daji neutralized 764 terrorists, arrested 673 suspects, and rescued 592 hostages. The air component conducted air interdictions, wiping out terrorist leaders and commanders,” he said.
He noted that the military also recovered large quantities of stolen crude oil, illegally refined products, and weapons in the South-South region.
