LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), along with university vice-chancellors, polytechnic rectors, and college of education provosts, among other educational stakeholders, will convene on July 18, 2024, to establish the cut-off marks for admissions.
According to VONa JAMB released the results of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on April 29, 2024. Out of 1,904,189 candidates, 8,401 scored 300 and above, 77,070 scored 250 and above, 439,974 scored 200 and above, while 1,402,490 scored below 200.
The meeting scheduled for July 18, to be chaired by the Minister of Education, Prof Tahir Mamman, was announced in a notice observed by our correspondent in Abuja.

“During the exercise, the Registrar will present reports on the just-concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and the ongoing Direct Entry applications, while also analysing key performance indicators that could shape the policy directions of the government in the area of admission.
“Also, the meeting would apprise stakeholders of the salient issues that cropped up in the previous years’ admission exercise. In addition, the policy meeting would also look at the performance of candidates in the current year’s UTME to determine the year’s minimum admissible score,” the notice said.
In past years, stakeholders have agreed on the minimum admission requirements for universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.
This year’s meeting will set the admission criteria and commence the admission process for the current year.
