OGUN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – The UEFA European Football Championship, also known as the Euros, has a rich history dating back to 1960. 

The inaugural tournament was hosted by France and won by the Soviet Union. 

Since then, many champions have emerged, showcasing the best of European football. 

The group stage of each tournament is always exciting, featuring a diverse range of players representing their countries.

UEFA is the most prominent football federation affiliated with FIFA, and European national teams consistently demonstrate a high level of competitiveness against top South American teams like Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay.

Germany and Spain have won the competition three times each, while other top contenders like France, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Netherlands, Croatia, and England are always eager to claim the title. African players from countries like Algeria, Cameroon, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, and Ghana also make significant contributions to European teams, leaving their mark on the competition.
