ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Two US lawmakers, French Hill and Chrissy Houlahan have visited Tigran Gambaryan, a Binance official detained in Kuje Prison.
They accused the Nigerian government of denying him access to adequate medical attention.
The lawmakers said: “Despite suffering from malaria, double pneumonia, and significant weight loss, Gambaryan is being held in a horrible place without proper care, according to Hill.”
The lawmakers’ visit follows a letter signed by 16 US congressmen urging President Joe Biden to intervene in Gambaryan’s release.

While tax-related charges were dropped, Hill demands his immediate release and dismissal of remaining charges, citing wrongful detention.
“Yesterday, @RepHoulahan and I visited with US citizen Tigran Gambaryan in Kuje Prison in Nigeria.
“We found him suffering from the conditions there, as he has malaria and double pneumonia, and he reports that he has lost significant weight. Even worse, he’s being denied access to adequate medical attention”, Hill said in a post on X on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian government denies holding Gambaryan hostage, accusing Binance of illegal operations and contributing to the country’s economic crisis.
The visit and public outcry underscore concerns about Gambaryan’s treatment and the Nigerian government’s handling of the situation.
As the US lawmakers call for his humanitarian release and return to America, the incident highlights tensions between the two nations and the need for diplomatic resolution.
