LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) –A man has been sentenced to over four years in prison by a UK court for removing a condom without his partner’s consent during sex.
The case, which the Metropolitan Police have described as a “milestone,” highlights the growing recognition of non-consensual condom removal, often referred to as “stealthing,” as a form of sexual assault.
Guy Mukendi, 39, of south London, was convicted in April and sentenced on Thursday at the Inner London Crown Court. The charges stemmed from a report of sexual assault made by a young woman in Brixton last May.

According to the Met, the victim had consented to have sex with Mukendi, but only on the condition that a condom be used. However, during the encounter, Mukendi removed the condom without the woman’s knowledge or consent.
“This milestone case comes as the Met continues its pledge to be more suspect-focused in their approach to crimes that disproportionately affect women and girls,” the police force said in a statement.
Detective Constable Jack Earl, who led the investigation, commended the victim’s courage and emphasized the Met’s commitment to pursuing justice in such cases.
“Throughout this investigation Mukendi denied any wrongdoing — but our officers built a compelling case against him to leave no doubt in the jury’s mind,” Earl said. “We were dedicated to securing justice for the victim and will continue to raise awareness that this crime is a form of rape.”
