LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) says it would penalize airline owners and operators who fly into restricted zones within the country.
In a letter addressed to operators and owners, titled “Warning to All Operators Against Flying Into Restricted and Prohibited Areas,” the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) reported receiving a notification from the national security adviser’s office about an unidentified aircraft sighted over the presidential villa.

āTheĀ Nigeria Civil Aviation AuthorityĀ wishes to refer to Part 8.8.1.21 of Nig.CARs which states that āNo person must operate an aircraft in a prohibited area or in a restricted area, the particulars of which have been duly published, except in accordance to the condition of the restriction or by permission of the State over whose territory the areas are established.ā
The letter indicates that any violations will result in sanctions, prosecution, or both by the authority.
Additionally, the authority warned that intruding aircraft could face severe consequences.
In the letter, the authority advised all aircraft owners and operators to ensure their crews obtain comprehensive weather information before flights and to strictly follow air traffic control instructions to prevent entering restricted or prohibited areas.
