LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)– NNPC Limited has taken a significant leap forward in its efforts to harness Nigeria’s abundant natural gas reservoirs by finalizing a Project Development Agreement (PDA) with Golar LNG for the construction of a Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facility off the coast of Niger Delta, Nigeria.
According to a press statement by the NNPCL spokesperson, Olufemi Soneye, the signing ceremony, held on Monday, June 10th, 2024, saw key representatives from NNPC Limited, including Umar Ajiya, Olalekan Ogunleye, and Mrs. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, sealing the deal with Golar LNG, led by CEO Karl Fredrik Staubo.
This agreement marks a crucial milestone in the journey towards commercialising Nigeria’s gas assets, aligning with the vision to boost the nation’s economic prosperity.

“The PDA outlines plans to utilize around 400-500 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscf/d) of gas to produce LNG, LPG, and Condensate.
“Both NNPC Limited and Golar LNG are committed to reaching the Final Investment Decision (FID) by the end of 2024, with the goal of commencing gas production by 2027.
