ANAMBRA, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Charles Nwufoh has described as false and malicious reports about collapse of the entire state party structure of the party into the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
Nwufoh who was reacting to an APGA’s event in Awka, where no fewer than 1300 PDP members were said to have defected to APGA, said the narrative had exposed the latter’s desperation and fear of the PDP’s repositioning and strategizing ahead of the 2025 gubernatorial elections.
He said the party structure in the state remained intact, united, and stronger than ever, urging supporters to remain steadfast and ignore the false narratives.
The statement reads, “In a recent attempt to deceive the public and gain political mileage, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has spread false information about the collapse of the entire state party structure of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) into APGA.
“This malicious rumor is a desperate attempt to score cheap political points and create confusion among the electorate.
“On Saturday, June 8, 2024, the PDP Anambra State held a successful mini rally at the party’s secretariat in Udoka Housing Estate, Awka, Anambra State. The event was attended by stakeholders, candidates from the 2023 elections, state leadership, local government executives from all 21 local government areas, and ward executives from across the state. This gathering demonstrated the party’s strength and unity.

“Conversely, APGA’s event at the Women Development Center in Awka, led by Governor Prof. Charles Soludo, was a staged affair. The attendees were reportedly hired individuals and students paid to participate in the charade.
“This pathetic attempt to fabricate a narrative of PDP members defecting to APGA has exposed the latter’s desperation and fear of the PDP’s repositioning and strategizing ahead of the 2025 gubernatorial elections.
“It is essential to set the record straight: the PDP Anambra State structure remains intact, united, and stronger than ever. The party’s reorganization and strategizing efforts have made it an even more formidable force in the state’s political landscape.
“APGA’s false claims only serve to reinforce the PDP’s status as the major opposition party in Anambra State. The people of Anambra State are not deceived by APGA’s propaganda, and they will continue to support the PDP’s mission to provide quality governance and leadership.
“Overall, the PDP Anambra State assures its members and the general public that the party’s structure is robust and united. We urge our supporters to remain steadfast and ignore the false narratives perpetuated by APGA. Together, we will achieve victory in the 2025 elections and restore the glory of Anambra State.”
