ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has strongly condemned the killing of five soldiers by suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), in Aba, Abia State, on Thursday.
He described the act by the suspected militants group as “unwarranted, barbaric, and evil” and promised that the Federal Government of Nigeria will take decisive action against those responsible.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the president, he expressed his condolences to the families of the slain soldiers, their colleagues, and the leadership of the armed forces.

He urged security agencies to fish out the masterminds and perpetrators of the attack, as well as those calling for a stay-at-home order, which he deemed a treasonable offense.
Tinubu emphasized that the government and armed forces have the capacity to crush violent non-state actors and ensure the safety of communities.
He encouraged security personnel on peacekeeping duty to remain committed to their duties, despite the unfortunate incident.
The President’s statement reads: “I received with great dismay the news of the killing of five soldiers by suspected IPOB militants in Aba, Abia State.

“This senseless attack is a condemnable act that will not be tolerated in our country. Our soldiers and police have the duty to protect us from aggressors and non-state actors, and they deserve our support and respect.
“The Federal Government of Nigeria will not hesitate to take appropriate action against those who attack our officers and men. We will crush violent non-state actors and ensure the safety of our communities.
“I urge security agencies to bring to justice those responsible for the Aba attack and those calling for a stay-at-home order, which is a treasonable offense.
“My condolences go to the families of the slain soldiers, their colleagues, and the leadership of our armed forces.
