LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – A devastating fire at a hospital in Delhi’s Vivek Vihar neighborhood in India, has resulted in the tragic deaths of seven babies, according to local authorities.
The fire was said to have erupted late Saturday evening and there was swift response from the fire department after bystanders raised the alarm.
Despite efforts by well-wishers to rescue the infants, seven newborns were killed by the fire before medical attention was administered, according to senior police officer Surendra Choudhary.

The sad incident occurred few hours after a separate fire caused havoc at an amusement park in Gujarat that claimed 27 lives, including four children.
Legal action is underway against the hospital owner, Choudhary confirmed, as investigations into the cause of the tragedy continues.
The fire, believed to have originated from an oxygen cylinder explosion, rapidly engulfed the New Born Baby Care hospital in Delhi’s Vivek Vihar area, requiring the deployment of 14 fire trucks to combat the flames, according to Delhi Fire Department Director Atul Garg.
