ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Police operatives from the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad on Saturday, executed an intelligence-led raid on a suspected IPOB/ESN outlawed criminal hideout in Akwuke community, Enugu South Local Government Area, today.
This is in line with proactive Easter policing strategies orchestrated by Enugu State Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, psc.
The operatives encountered resistance from the renegades, prompting a gun duel which culminated in the neutralisation of two criminals, while others fled with gunshot wounds.

This was disclosed in a press release issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Enugu State Command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, and obtained by voiceofnaija.ng.
Recovered from the scene were one AK-47 rifle, one submachine gun (SMG), one stainless pump-action gun (PAG), twenty-seven live and twenty-three expended rounds of 7.62 mm caliber ammunition, as well as five live cartridges and a small blue-colored Gideon New Testament bible used to conceal objects suspected to be charm.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the AK-47 rifle recovered had its breech number erased, and the criminals are linked to multiple attacks and the theft of police officers’ rifles, as indicated by the Nigeria Police Force-colored magazine found.

Ongoing discreet investigations aim to uncover further details.
Commending the operatives for their operational success, Commissioner of Police Uzuegbu reiterated the Command’s resolute commitment to purging Enugu State of persistent criminal elements.
He also implored citizens, particularly medical facility owners, to promptly report individuals presenting gunshot wounds to law enforcement.
