ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- President Bola Tinubu disclosed on Monday that the recently signed N28.7 trillion 2024 budget includes a significant allocation of N100 billion earmarked for school feeding programs.
This revelation came as he signed the 2024 appropriation bill into law at the State House in Abuja.
Tinubu emphasized that this provision aims to serve as a catalyst, encouraging school attendance and mitigating the issue of out-of-school children.

During the signing ceremony, he stated, “One of the priority areas of the bill we just passed is the N100 billion provision for feeding school children. I believe that is a stimulant that will encourage enrollment and address malnutrition among school children.”
The President announced plans to engage with local governments at the sub-national levels to foster collaboration and implement an all-inclusive program successfully.
Tinubu also confirmed that the budget, christened “Renewed Hope,” is centered on reducing recurrent expenditure while increasing capital expenditure.
In December, he directed the reinstatement of the school feeding program, transferring its oversight from the Humanitarian Ministry to the Education Ministry.
