The family, en route to celebrate the New Year, met with a devastating accident when the father, driving a Sienna vehicle, collided with a stationary truck loaded with rods at the Amanwozuzu junction.

The father, along with his wife and children, tragically lost their lives on the spot, as the vehicle was broken to bring out the lifeless bodies of the family members.
At the time of reporting, personnel from the Ikeduru Local Government Area Division had transported the bodies to a morgue.
The Divisional Police Officer, Chief Superintendent of Police Lucky Ahiole, confirmed the incident, stating that the Sienna driver collided with the stationary truck parked at the roadside.
Ahiole expressed the magnitude of the tragedy, saying, “It is terrible. Eight died, and we have taken them to a morgue. We had to break the Sienna vehicle to bring out the dead bodies. The rod pierced their eyes and bodies, and even the children died.”
Contrary accounts emerged from an eyewitness, suggesting that the stationary truck, carrying rods, was obstructing the road, raising concerns that the tragic accident could have been avoided if the truck had not been parked in that manner.
