ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- As the political crisis rocking Rivers State over the plot to impeach Governor Siminalayi Fubara continues to generate tension, elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clark, has asked President Bola Tinubu to call Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to order.

Clark, a leader of the South-South regional group, the Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), made the call during a conference in Abuja on Monday.

Speaking with journalists, he said that the crisis rocking the Rivers State House of Assembly was traceable to Wike, who was the former Governor of the state from May 2015 to May 2023.

Clark said that the cold war between Wike and his political son came to the open on Sunday night when the Rivers State House of Assembly was set ablaze by hoodlums following threat to impeach the Governor.

Following the confusion, the leader of the House and loyalist of Fubara was suspended to pave way for the impeachment of the governor. In a twist of events, the former Majority leader, Edison Ehie emerged the speaker of the house.

But the Niger Delta elder statesman added that Wike should give peace a chance in Rivers State after ruling the oil-rich state as a governor for eight years.
